This contents page is different to the front cover I done, but is also
NME so I can see how they create a similar style throughout their different issues and how they change their magazine to attract different music genres.
The masthead is in the same font throughout all their issues, this makes the audience able to recognise and become familiar with it. It also is fairly big and located in the top left of the page which is seen as a hot spot for the audience. The other fonts are varied in size with the more important things having a bigger font to make them stand out to the audience. The colour scheme is black, white and red, which is quite common to the audience of the rock music genre and the masthead being in this iconic red to symbolise strength and power, this is related to the music that rock starts produce and the lifestyles of the stereotype audience. The main image is someone with an electric guitar which is one of the main symbols for rock music and would therefore attract the target audience. The artist also has long hair which is a common representation of the target audience for rock music so this would closely relate to them and attract them to purchase this particular issue. It also has quite dark lighting which is used for effect to make the singer look 'cool', which is also common to the ideology of rock music because they are stereotyped to wear darker clothes and seem like the rebel type. The design and layout of this is quite complex, this is because of the fact that the main image is small and has a boarder around it, this could be to fit in more important text. The masthead is at the top and in big font to make it stand out, with the contrasting colour palette with black and white. The simplistic column structure and the use of non-vibrant colours represents the ideology of the audience of the rock genre, it also has 'ARTIC MONKEYS' in big bold font stands out because of its importance as this rock group are very popular and iconic for the rock genre audience and will persuade them to purchase this issue.
