I got a few font ideas from a website called www.dafont.com, I will be analysing the strengths and weaknesses of each different font and then deciding the best choice for my magazine masthead. It was quite hard to find good fonts because a lot of them didn't relate to grime and wouldn't have looked right once I changed the writing to 'UKG'.
This is the first font I chose, I chose this because it's in bold font which will stand out to the audience. I personally think it looks good and I believe that it would work for my magazine. The weaknesses of it is that it doesn't really relate to grime and the 'G' is quite far away from the 'K'.I chose this because it has a rough kind of 'streets' look to it, this is commonly associated with grime. The negative of it is that I personally do no think it will look good as a masthead for a magazine.
I chose this font because it has a graffiti kind of look, this is a good choice because graffiti is also associated with grime, the negative with this is that I couldn't really see it working as a masthead because it doesn't stand out enough in my opinion.Overall, after looking at these fonts and some others online, I have decided to go with the first font to use as my masthead, this is because it stands out with the bold font and it suits the rough idea I have of my magazine. It also gives the magazine a professional look in comparison to the others as this is the only one that I could imagine as a real masthead. If there is still a problem with the 'G' too far away then I will have to edit it in photoshop to make it all the same distance away.
