Sunday, 12 March 2017
Planning for my evaluation
Question 1 - In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
For this question I am going to do a voice of with subtitles and overlay images of the examples that answer the question.
Question 2 - How does your media product represent particular social groups?
For this question I am going to do an interview with my friends Jack who listens to grime music to see if he believes if I have represented the social group I targeted in the right way.
Question 3 - What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
For this I am going to do a prezzi, this is because I can layout the different institutions in a more structured way and clearly discuss their strengths and weaknesses.
Question 4 & 5 - Who would be the audience for your media product and how did you attract/address them?
For this I am going to join the questions together as they are very similar and link together. I am going to do a voice over with subtitles and images to answer this.
Question 6 - What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
For this question I have decided to do a prezzi, this because I can clearly present the different technologies I have used and add examples of where I have improved and learnt.
Question 7 - Looking at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
For this question I am going to again do a voiceover with both my preliminary task and my full product on the screen.

Finalised contents page
This is my finalised contents page I believe that this has gone well as I kept to my contents draft as I felt that nothing needed to be drastically changed. I kept to the house style of my magazine and this simplistic layout makes it easy for the audience to see clearly where the information is. I used the same three colours as my for my double page spread and front cover, this was to also stick to the house style and make the magazine look professional and not too overwhelming, but I also added a grey to the background of the masthead, this was to make the masthead more appealing as I felt that without it the masthead looked too plain. Although, I used a brighter blue for the contents page as I felt that this was necessary in attracting the audience's attention to the things that were important like the page numbers, which I also added a border to, to further this. I used the masthead from my front cover and this was because when I deconstructed an NME contents page before I saw that they done it and I thought that it worked well so I would adapt that into mine. I used a variety of fonts that made things stand out, for example for the titles of the contents information, the word 'MAIN' is in big, bold font that will attract the audience and make it clear where the specific information is. I also made key words or phrases in either a different font or colour to make them stand out clearly and grab the attention of the audience. Another thing I done was clearly laid it out so that the information was well structured as I felt that this was needed for a contents page as when I done some research into them I felt that the ones with a simple structure had a greater effect as it was clear and easy for the audience to understand. The only thing that I am not pleased with is the main image, this is because I had originally planned to have a picture of Joel performing to replicate him at the Mobo Awards but I couldn't find the right location that would make this look believable.

Contents page production
I started off by adding just the masthead, as I originally planned to have a white background to it with a faint outlining, but I decided to make it grey as when trying it out it looked better than my original plan. Grey is also a colour that is associated with grime as it seen to be quite a rough kind of feel to it. The masthead I decided to have black as this stood out the best and that was the main aim of my masthead.
I then added the advertisement to the online website, I located this at the bottom as it is the least important information and a key convention of magazines is to follow this pattern and is very common from my research into music magazines. I used blue and white writing as this worked well with the black background, while sticking to the colour scheme of my magazine. I used a few different fonts and font sizes to make the key phrases like "best Grime artist of 2016" stand out. After that I added the main image, this was so that I could decide how big it was before adding the contents around it. I gave it a slight border which makes it more aesthetically pleasing and added a black rectangle with his name in and the page numbers, this is a key convention of magazine contents pages.
The next step was firstly adding the faint boxes to the outside of the actual contents, this I felt made it look more professional, added to my simplistic layout and made it have a better structure. Then I added the titles of the information "MAIN" and "EXTRAS", which a black background to contrast with the big ,white, bold font. Then I added the contents which I used a standard font so that it is easy to read and is also a key convention of magazine contents pages.

Lastly, I added page numbers. I made them blue with quite a thick black border so that they stand out to the audience as this is a key part of the contents page and is another key pattern that I found from contents pages, that they make them appealing and different from the rest of the fonts and colours. This is my finished contents page and I am very pleased with how it has gone.
